Extension of Sea Level CCI activities has started
CCI+ kick off meeting took place on 29 March as start of three-year project
The extension of the ESA Climate Change Initiative program (CCI+) has recently started, including new research and development within the sea level project. The kick off meeting of the sea level SL_CCI+ activities occurred on 29 March 2019 and the project will last for three years.
The operational production of the climate-oriented altimeter sea level products has been taken over by the European Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S). In this context, the SL_CCI+ objectives are:
- Develop a database of coastal sea level products in a number of world coastal zones selected for their vulnerability to global warming and sea level rise, using retracked data from LRM altimetry missions and SAR altimetry from the Sentinel 3A mission, as well as dedicated coastal geophysical corrections. Gridded sea level products will be produced with varying spatial resolution (higher resolution near the coast).
- Determine the uncertainties of the monthly gridded and global mean sea level time series over the altimetry era
