Training Description
In this beginner-friendly notebook, we will use satellite-derived data from the ESA Climate Change Initiative (CCI) to explore how the climate is changing in the cryosphere.
Training Objectives and Topics
Prerequisites: Basic Python familiarity and some experience with NumPy or pandas.
No prior experience with satellite data is required.
By working through this notebook you will learn:
- How to access and visualise ESA-CCI's Essential Climate Variables (ECVs)
- How to analyse ESA-CCI's ECVs patterns to answer the following questions:
- Has Sea Ice declined in the Arctic in the last years?
- Has the snow cover changed over the last decades, and how much?
- How uncertainty is represented and evaluated in CCI ECVs and how to work with these values in your own analyses
