Training Description

This interactive training provided a hands-on opportunity to access and analyse ESA’s Climate Change Initiative satellite-derived data for climate change applications.

The session demonstrated how to access this data using a dedicated JupyterLab Training Environment and explore various relevant uses of CCI data for climate change applications (e.g., using CCI’s data records of Essential Climate Variables (ECVs) to illustrate urban heat island effects, increasing trends in the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events).

Jupyter Notebooks were provided to participants, with exercises accessible to different levels of programming proficiency, from complete beginners to more advanced levels. Additionally, the session introduced the ESA CCI Toolbox, a powerful Python package that simplifies access to and operations with ESA CCI’s ECVs.
