The SOCOM2 Intiative
An overview of the five experiments of SOCOM2 which the OC4C project is helping to underpin
The OC4C project work is supporting and guiding the SOCOM2 community analysis which is enhancing the Global Carbon Budget. Early results from the SOCOM2 initiative have already appeared in the years GCB assessment and further results were presented at AGU24, EGU25 and will be at LPS25.
Our colleague Dr. Alizée Roobaert spoke more about this at the recent EGU25 event earlier this year and let us know that our next SOCOM2 session has been submitted for the Ocean science meeting in February 2026.
Below you can see an image overview of these experiments which includes 1. A comprehensive geospatial uncertainty analysis, 2. GCB subsampling, 3. Large ensemble testbed, 4. Single testbed using the updated Takahashi climatology and 5. Temperature correction.
