The co-ordinating hub of the WCRP’s Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment
The International Project Office for CORDEX (IPOC) is the co-ordinating hub of the WCRP CORDEX. It is co-hosted by the European Space Agency and the University of Cape Town and is led by Dr Rachel McInnes.
Regional downscaling and CORDEX
CORDEX advances and coordinate the science and application of regional climate downscaling through global partnerships. By providing information on much smaller scales CORDEX outputs support detailed impact and adaptation assessment and planning - vital information in many vulnerable regions of the world. Its goals are to:
better understand relevant regional/local climate phenomena, their variability and changes, through downscaling.
evaluate and improve regional climate downscaling models and techniques
produce coordinated sets of regional downscaled projections worldwide
