Climate for Science Excellence
Massive Online Open Courses, Summer Schools & Training for learners at MSc & BSc levels
We trust that education will equip the future generation of scientists and policy makers with the right tools to address and mitigate climate change.
Do you want to learn how to measure climate change?
Do you want to predict when extreme events will hit your country again in the future?
Then, you are invited to join us and use ESA’s Training for Science Excellence.
The Climate Change Initiative (CCI) of the European Space Agency (ESA) has developed Training for Science Excellence to empower you, the new generation of scientists and scholars, with the skills to understand climate change and analyse satellite-based climate data.
These educational resources are offered at tertiary and scientific levels and are suitable for teachers wanting to complement their curricula, self-learners, MSc students working to complete their study load, and scholars. ESA’s Training for Science Excellence is, therefore, delivered in three different modes, ranging from online courses to face-to-face education.
This is your opportunity to learn from world-class scientists, work with cutting-edge technology and use state of the art software. And it is your chance to become yourself a scholar who is working at the forefront of scientific discoveries.
The educational resources are offered in three ways:
- Self-study (Tertiary Training Kit); provides teaching and self-learning resources for teachers and students on the use of software and methods to analyse satellite-derived climate data records
- Massive Open Online Course (MOOC); an online course to explore how satellites are used for Earth Observation to support the climate science community and policy makers
- Summer School; a short summer course aiming to equip the participants with the competency of evaluating climate change using satellite data and use state-of-the-art software to analyse essential climate variables
